About Me

Hi, This is me with my rescued American Bulldog, Tyler, he’s my rock through the good times and the bad. We tackle life together as a team and he makes the hardest of days that much easier.

Like many people, I’ve always taken good health and the ability to do activities of my choice for granted. So, when my health took a nose dive it was very difficult for me to accept that things had to change and I wasn’t exactly overly chuffed about the situation, to say the least.

There’s no escaping that changes in your health, whether physical and/or mental, can cause countless shifts in how you function and ultimately how you live your life.

Eventually, there came a point when I had to accept that there was a new me and I had two choices, give in to ill health and be miserable or I had to learn to adapt. For me, the second option was unquestionably the best choice to make.

We all have choices, if and how we move forward

Living with CRPS (Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome), a painful chronic illness, isn’t easy, but adding into the equation Asthma, a Hypersensitive Nervous System, Arthritis and various other oddities, meant that before I could formulate a plan I needed to know exactly what I was up against. So, I took time to learn more about myself and my conditions, I learned how to recognise the health triggers and what I needed to do to regain control to a degree that would enable me to start enjoying life again.

I also used previously gained experiences, knowledge and qualifications to help redefine who I was, rewrite my story and create a new journey to allow me to move forward for the better.

By taking small steps I started to see the results I was after and this in itself gave motivation to keep going.

Yes, I admit there have been very difficult times to combat and my levels of sanity have been questionable, but I’m definitely going in the right direction with lots of exciting plans. I now know my limitations and work around these to get the results I want.

It’s very easy to accept defeat when things don’t go the way you want, but you have to hang on to what fight you have left and use it to get the results you dream of.

Strangely, being unwell has actually opened new doors and taken me along paths that I wouldn’t have previously considered!

Small steps can lead to big results
